Senior Consultant Accounting, Reporting & Compliance - PwC

Location: Amsterdam
Employment: Full-time
As a Senior Consultant you occupy a central position in the Compliance practice. You will be involved in a variety of project-based activities, such as compiling financial statements, preparing and drafting financial reports and designing, updating and further automating financial administration systems.

Are you innovative, eager to learn, ambitious, enterprising, a real team player and someone with a feel for finance? And would you like to work in a dynamic team that takes its values seriously but never loses sight of the fun factor? If so, this could be the job for you!

Our clients operate in a world in which they face increasingly complex laws and regulations, authorities that demand full transparency, and stakeholders who are more actively involved in a company’s strategic choices in which real-time financial insight is most importance. Due to these developments’ compliance has become more important than ever.

“Every day has exciting prospects and we give you the space within our team to maximise your own capabilities and to bring your ideas forward in the front line.”

As professionals in the Accounting, Reporting & Compliance team, we help national and international clients to remain in control of statutory & tax compliance. We do this by designing internal processes and enabling companies to fully or partially outsource the compliance function to PwC by means of various technological tooling, data analytics, computerisation and robotisation aimed at improving the work processes, either internally or with the client.

What will your work involve?

As a Senior Consultant you occupy a central position in the Compliance practice. You will be involved in a variety of project-based activities, such as compiling financial statements, preparing and drafting financial reports and designing, updating and further automating financial administration systems. You will be working in a dynamic environment with a diverse group of colleagues, acting as the point of contact for your clients and taking on the role of a trusted relationship manager. You will be given the opportunity to put forward ideas to raise our services to a higher level and get the best out of yourself and your colleagues. This is a great career move that places you in control of your own development!

You have a varied range of tasks: no two days are the same. To give you an impression of a day in this team, you might start the day with a kick-off meeting for a compilation engagement. At this meeting you discuss how to tackle the task at hand with the team and the client. Your next task is to review another client's financial statements before they are sent off to the manager and partner. Later in the day you have a coaching session with one of your teammates. You are also expected to take responsibility for managing the engagement, which could entail planning the work from start to finish, but also the billing.

You form the pivot between associate level and the management team and act as a true relationship manager. You also act as the first point of contact for your clients, which makes maintaining the client relationship is one of your key responsibilities.

 Who are you?

You are looking for a varied job in a dynamic environment. You want to put theoretical knowledge into practice, acquire fresh knowledge, build your network and get the best out of yourself and your colleagues. You are ready for the next step in your career and you possess the following qualities:

  • An university study background in a financial subject, such as Accounting, Finance and Control.
  • At least two years’ relevant work experience.
  • Innovative, enterprising and always ready for a challenge.
  • Curious about (new) technological developments.
  • Team player, eager to learn and ambitious.
  • A good head for figures, strong analytical skills and the ability to make connections quickly.
  • Good command of Dutch and English.

What are we offering?

You are at the helm of your own career. We offer you opportunities for a challenging job that will help you get the most out of yourself, build confidence in society and contribute to solving important issues. We’ll coach you every step of the way, but always give you plenty of room to pursue your ambitions and make your own choices. We offer access to a global network where you can share knowledge and ideas and explore questions with experienced PwC professionals. Our employment terms are designed to support your personal growth and a healthy work-life balance. This is what you can expect from us:

  • An open working atmosphere, centering on both your personal development and that of your colleagues.
  • A knowledge organisation from which you stand to learn a great deal.
  • Many training sessions and courses that contribute to your personal development. The trainings sessions are given on technical skills and soft skills. They include our three-day international 'Altitude' training, which focuses on developing leadership skills. This helps you reflect on your behaviour, your values, growth and leadership. It also gives you the perfect opportunity to make connections with PwC colleagues from foreign offices.
  • A commensurate salary and comprehensive employee conditions. Examples include a 'wellbeing budget'. This is a personal budget of €750 that you can spend on your health, such as mindfulness, sports, lifestyle coaching and wellness.
  • Individual coaching with special emphasis on your personal development.
  • Electric lease car or car allowance.
  • Laptop, second screen for your home office, noise cancelling headphones and an iPhone.
  • 30 days’ holiday
  • Weekly (virtual or physical) social meet-ups with colleagues and other fun events.
